Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and [[OWNER NAME]] ("we", "us") about your use of the PromptPolish Chrome extension and the optional PromptPolish for Windows app (together, "PromptPolish"). By installing or using PromptPolish you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
In plain words
PromptPolish is free and provided "as is". It suggests edits to your text; you decide what to accept and you are responsible for what you send. Its AI output can be wrong. Don't use it for anything unlawful or harmful. If you use cloud mode, the AI provider's terms also apply to you.
1. The service
PromptPolish helps you write better prompts for AI chat tools: it underlines mistakes, fixes grammar and spelling, translates text into simple English, and rewrites text in different tones. Features depend on your browser, device and settings. For example, on-device rewriting needs a supported device and a model download managed by Chrome. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
2. Your licence
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use PromptPolish for your own personal or internal business purposes, free of charge, in line with these terms. You may not sell, rent or sublicense it, or remove its notices. Parts of PromptPolish use open-source software (for example the Harper grammar engine, licensed under Apache-2.0), which remain under their own licences.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use PromptPolish to:
- break any law or the rights of others, or help someone else do so;
- create or spread fraud, deception, harassment, malware or other harmful content;
- send text to a third-party provider that you have no right to send, or that your employer or policies forbid sharing;
- interfere with, probe or overload any website, service or network, or try to bypass the controls of the sites you use it on; or
- misrepresent that PromptPolish is endorsed by us or by any website or AI provider.
You are responsible for following the terms of the websites and AI services you use PromptPolish with.
4. AI output and your responsibility
- Suggestions, corrections, translations and rewrites are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or change your meaning, especially for translations and informal or mixed-language text.
- Always review the result before you use or send it. PromptPolish shows differences and offers Undo for this reason.
- PromptPolish is not professional, legal, medical or financial advice and is not suitable for decisions where an error could cause serious harm.
- You own your text and are responsible for it and for how you use the results.
5. Third-party services
PromptPolish works alongside services we do not own or control:
- Chrome and its built-in AI (Google), subject to Google's terms.
- AI chat websites where you use the extension, subject to their terms.
- AI providers you connect in cloud mode (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) or a local model server you run. Their terms, pricing, data handling and availability apply to you, and you are responsible for your API key and any charges. We are not responsible for what those services do with text you choose to send them.
PromptPolish is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, Perplexity, DeepSeek, xAI or any other company named in it. Names and logos belong to their owners.
6. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what PromptPolish processes and stores. In short, your text stays on your device unless you turn on cloud mode.
7. Ownership
PromptPolish, including its code, design, name and logo, belongs to us and our licensors, except for open-source components under their own licences. These terms do not give you ownership of PromptPolish. Your own text remains yours; we claim no rights in it.
8. No warranty
PromptPolish is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, availability or non-infringement. We do not promise that it will work on every website or editor, that websites will not change in ways that break it, that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will keep working on your device or browser version. Some laws do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you in full.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill or business, or for any harm caused by AI output or by text you send to third-party services, arising out of or related to your use of PromptPolish. Because PromptPolish is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to [[LIABILITY CAP, e.g. USD 50]]. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using PromptPolish at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end access to PromptPolish, or stop supporting it, at any time, for example if these terms are broken or if we discontinue the project. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, warranty, liability, governing law) continue after your use ends.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, mention them in the extension's release notes. If you keep using PromptPolish after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [[GOVERNING LAW, e.g. India]], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of [[JURISDICTION, e.g. Ahmedabad, India]] have jurisdiction over disputes, except where the law of your place of residence gives you mandatory rights to a different forum.
